Let’s dive right in and discover why JayJays® Molle is the best choice to elevate your gear to new heights of excellence.
In this blog, we’ll investigate what sets JayJays® Molle apart as the pinnacle of excellence in modular gear, how our innovative design and thought process raise the bar, and why rust-proof, all-weather fabric ensures robustness that’s second to none.
What Exactly is the Molle System?
If you are new to the world of Tactical Gear, you might be wondering what molle is all about.
Molle stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment, it was introduced in and around 1997 and it revolutionized the way you carry and organize your gear.
At its core, molle uses, a grid of ROWS and PALS made from webbing or other rugged materials, which allows you to attach various pouches, holsters, and accessories to your gear.
A molle row is normally made from 1” (25mm) wide webbing and runs horizontally, this allows the pouches to be set up and down and should be set at 1” webbing, then a 1” gap and this keeps going until you cannot fit anymore webbing rows onto the gear.
A PAL is the loop which is created by sewing a straight line along the molle row at 1 ½” (38mm) intervals, again until you run out of room, which allows pouches to be moved side to side.
It is effectively a grid system of loops that is fitted to your equipment, giving you the flexibility to customize your layout to suit your specific needs.
That is the molle system in a nutshell, however, there is a lot more to it when it comes to designing and incorporating it into our gear when it comes to manufacturing.
So how does JayJays® think differently when it comes to molle?
Although the molle system is probably the best system around for attaching pouches and accessories to your gear, there are pros and cons to the system, which when it comes to designing JayJays® must always consider.
Pop studs. Pop studs have been used for years on pouches, the problem is that they rust or break, thus making the pouch useless and unusable. Pop studs also create a lot of slack when the pouch is fitted to the grid and having loose pouches is the most common fault soldiers mention when it comes to molle, but we spent years and years perfecting our molle system so there is no looseness when our pouches are fitted. We use a tuck system, which with some careful thought and precision in the design process means our pouches are very secure with no looseness when the pouch or accessory is fitted.
One thing we should mention is that a major factor when we design our gear in relation to metal components. Not only can they rust in topical environments, but you must consider fragmentation, lessons learnt from the past 20 years of operations mainly in Afghanistan and Iraq, secondary fragmentation from metal components in tactical gear was and is a factor in causing injuries. So, we at JayJays® are always conscious when it comes to designing our gear about keeping metal components to a minimum as much as possible.
With the introduction of laser cutting and fabric technology, laminate fabrics are now the way forward when it comes to the molle System, we can cut and make our gear with so much more precision, and with clever design we can make it a lower profile and manipulate the sizing to a degree of the molle System, thus making it a better product for you the end user.
